Why did you choose to pursue a degree in business?
Since I was younger, it has always been a dream of mine to build and run my own restaurant. I knew from a very early time, I wanted to become an entrepreneur. I wanted to be my own boss, and learn have my own legacy to pass down to my children and their children. I chose to pursue a degree in business so I can be my own brand, and build a career I know I love, for myself.
What piece of advice would you give to an incoming female business student?

If I could give a piece of advice to an incoming female business student, it would be to never be intimidated. Women sometimes have to prove themselves more than men when it comes to work, so it's important to not feel timid or shy. Voice your opinion, stand out, and be confident.

What different resources, organizations and events on campus helped shape you as a business student?

The National Association of Black Accountants (NABA) at UNC Charlotte definitely helped shaped me as a business student. Although I'm not an accounting major, this organization accepts all business majors, and will help mold you not only as a professional, but as a individual as well. I've gained a second family within this organization, and I have definitely came out of my shell. From learning how to network, to preparing a great elevator speech, and building a strong resume, NABA has shaped me as a better business student.
